No New Year holiday for UAE public sectorThe circular has been issued to all ministries and federal government bodies
Dubai: Humaid Mohammad Obaid Al Qutami, Minister of Education and Chairman of the Federal Authority for Human Resources, issued a circular to all ministries and federal government bodies regarding the New Year's Day holidays. The circular states that since the New Year falls on Saturday, which is already a weekend, employees will not be compensated with an off day. The circular states that according to the Cabinet’s Resolution No. 11 of 2008 related to human resources in the federal government, and based on item No. 5 / 100 of that resolution which stipulates that an official holiday will not be compensated if it falls on a weekend or coincides with another public holiday.
