Hyderabad: A huge 5,570 kilogram "laddu" prepared for the recent Ganesh festival in Andhra Pradesh has entered the Guinness World Records. The laddu, a sweet made from sugar, flour, mung lentils and dry fruits and rolled into a ball, was prepared by Suvarnabhoomi Developers Private Limited in Tapeswaram. The real estate firm is famous for the Andhra sweet "kaja". Satish Reddy from the firm showed the certificate received from Guinness to the media in Visakhapatnam. The laddu was prepared for the 117 foot-tall idol of Ganesha installed in Visakhapatnam in September and was used as "prasadam" (offering) for devotees during the 21-day long festival. It was the tallest idol installed in the state this year. As many as 50 workers laboured for a week to make the laddu. |
