ERUVADI MUSLIM ASSOCIATION Essay Writing On The Topic Of “Towards Medina” “Aspects Needed for the Development of Eruvadi” By, M. Fareed Ahamed Ajman Mob No: 0552774935 ------------------------------ Eruvadi Address No: 62/125, 5th Street Eruvadi-627103
Assalamu Alaikum, Greetings to All My Brothers and Sisters, Introduction: The article speaks about, what are the developments we could make for our Eruvadi Town Panchayat to make it as a Prosperous one. Eruvadi is a panchayat town in Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu. In 2011, Our Native has attained a tremendous progress in the development of various aspects when it compared with the neighboring villages. Eruvadi is a splendid place surrounded by the Western Ghats hills. Moreover Eruvadi is a resident Oriented and it is not a commercial place to be considered. Now let us move into the topic. There are various factors which could contribute for the development of our Native, Let us discuss about those factors in a detailed manner. According to my perception the most important factor I would consider is, Educational Factor: Education plays a pivotal role, without education the improvement of the city or village couldn’t be defined. Literacy rate is important in defining the progress of the town. In eruvadi, at the past, most of the students after finishing their 12th schooling they will move out for work. It is one of the deteriorating factors. But now the situation has been rapidly changed as most of the students are pursuing for master’s degree and even for doctorate. It’s a welcoming one. Even though most of the students after completing their 12th, they were baffled to choose their career. In which path they have to step in to find out their own potential. Parents should not compel them to select a course according to their wish. It’s entirely relays with the student, he should choose his career. For this purpose we have to arrange for a counseling session for our eruvadi students. We should invite some of the reputed professors from various colleges nearby and we have to make an interactive session. So that students might ask those professors the doubts they have in and the students will be aware in which path he has to step in for his future. Here it applies even for our sisters, after completing 12th, their parents at least make them to pursue their under graduation. It’s an important need for them; they should have the basic knowledge which will helpful for their future generation. If Mother is educated, so that she could teach her child for a certain level. We could see a sympathetic condition in our native, women even couldn’t teach her 1st standard kid. And apart from this, our native doesn’t have a worthy tuition center, as most of our brothers have to go vallioor or some other places for their extra classes. Mostly for the 10th and 12th physics, maths, chemistry. It’s also one of the drawbacks for our native. These things should be taken into consideration. In the educational factor I have quoted a few aspects, and next I would like to discuss about the agricultural aspects.
Agricultural Factor: This is one of the important factors for a country like India. And basically the people of eruvadi mostly involve in the agricultural business in the past decade. But the situation is changing, most of the green fields in our native has be modified or been converted to plots, the real estate business which soars up in the current generation. The common word said is “land and gold has value ever”. More the year passes, more the value of land. By considering this aspect, the farm lands and the fields have been converted for business purpose. So what might happen? In the near future, there will be scarcity of water, and the soil too loses its fertile. Most of the people in our native are in need of land, so the farmers who having their own land use to sell his land. Most of the people in our native are involving in this business in which they used to get lots of commission. Their aim is to make money in a short period without considering the importance of the green farms. So the agricultural aspects should be brought back and we have to conserve the fertility of the soil and so the future generation of our eruvadi won’t suffer from the scarcity of water. Considering to the agricultural factor, the next factor I would like to discuss is about Social Factors. Social Factor: The main reason for discussing the social factor is to enhance the well being of our native society, Firstly, concerning native these days a lot of younger generation does not even know where we come from or who our ancestors are. I believe if we are better educated about our ancestors this would bring a sense of responsibility within the younger generation. Also, this is history that we NEED to know so that we can pass it on. Our younger generation needs to know where our roots come from. We need to find out how Islam spread to Eruvadi. We also need to trace back our individual family lineages as far as we can.
Secondly, our young men and women of Native need to be given responsibility in Mosque and other community leadership position. It is about time we bring some new inspiration and new ideas into our Eruvadi society. It is about time we had a change. I believe we are still practicing some old unnecessary practices. When the young people are given more responsibility in the community, then they act more responsibly themselves and also this keeps their minds occupied towards productive things.
Moreover these things will make our younger generation active and it won’t make them indulging in useless activities and they could keep themselves busy without idle. These things will make him a better human in the society and also makes him in service minded. Islamic classes also put into practice; already our eruvadi brothers are conducting Tharbiah classes and this kind of sessions will enlighten our brother’s knowledge.
I would like to further discuss about the marriage practices which currently prevail in our society,
Marriage system in our society - This is one the main areas which is very much of my concern. Lately, I have been hearing that a lot of new marriages end up in chaos. There are two elements here leading to the problem. I partly agree and disagree with the parents and likewise the concerned young people. This is the scenario as it follows:
In my opinion, the marriages that took place in Eruvadi until recently were based on what we call "Traditions". As much as I respect our traditions, we need to also realize that there are elements of our tradition which do not comply which the Sunnah of The Prophet (PBUH). MashaAllah a lot of families have managed to change the old practices themselves and still more input is required in this area.
There is still no proper segregation in marriages ceremonies. In addition to that, there is a "myth" in our society that our native people should only find a bride or a bridegroom within only our native and not go outside the perimeter (i.e. outside native, another city or state or country). Fair enough. I do agree that going out of town to find a bride or a bride groom without any knowledge of family background may be risky.
However, on some occasions I have witnessed that brides and bridegrooms from out of town get rejected without valid reason. If this is the state for someone to marry just in another city, I can imagine what would happen if one of us to go out of state or even another country to marry. It seems that the society rejects cross-state or cross-country marriages. The bottom line to me is as long as the person is pious and practicing muslin, there should not be a problem. It does not matter what language they speak or what state they belong to or even what nationality they are.
On the other hand, I do blame the young people for not being organized enough and not doing things accordingly when it comes to marriage. People want to meet in secret which is against the principles of Islam. However, I partly blame the society for this. If someone wants to talk to the bride or the bridegroom before marriage just so that they want to know about the person, they should be encouraged to speak to the potential partner in the presence of a Mahram.
Sadly, I still notice some bridegrooms take for example may be Rs.100000 or demand an item (e.g. motorbike) and they pay "Mahr" at a value of say Rs.2000. What is the logic here? A God fearing and dignified man should be ashamed to even dare to ask for "Dowry". Alhamdulillah, it is nice to mention here that a lot of our brothers in the recent years have refused to ask for dowry and some have even given them back after their marriage.
Overall the conclusion is that for a healthy society we need a combination of both elements. We need the wise knowledge of the older generation and the energy of the younger generation and mutual respect between common native citizens in order for this to work and make our Native a prosperous one.
Apart from this our Native has been undergoing problems in these two aspects namely,
Electricity Problem:
The word which has been glued to the Eruvadi people hearts is the power cut. This problem can’t be solved in today’s scenario also. Mostly the home maker gets into trouble at the morning times while making preparation for their children and at the night times it’s a heavy burden for all the family members. What is the actual cause for the power cut? Tamil nadu has shortage of power supply as it demands for the Koodangulam nuclear plant. So if it’s happening to get started, probably the shortage will be reduced.
Up to that what we can do? We eruvadi people have to make a petition to the TNEB, stating the power cut should be made at a scheduled time, so that we could arrange the things accordingly. And more over inverter is also a backup but most of the people can’t afford that. Using the power saver bulbs which would conserve more energy could be used. Installing a solar cell, in which we could get the electricity from the solar energy. Unnecessarily in our home, the power should not turn on for any gadgets. Possibly we have to save the energy as much we can for the benefit of our native.
Transport problem:
Our native has been facing this problem for decades. College students and the office goers from our native are really suffering at the morning time to catch a bus for their respective destinations which is mainly Tirunelveli and Nagercoil. It’s our duty to sort out this problem by meeting the concerned person in the Nagercoil depot by our eruvadi jamath people. Ask those people to leave more buses in the eruvadi routes. This should be also taken into consideration. Even our native people has lot more necessities and I would put these in,
Social enhancements:
Here few things have to be taken into consideration. And those which may be needed for our Eruvadi people
Conclusion: Finally I have reached the conclusion part of the article. So the development which mentioned can’t be achieved individually. So, mainly education with Islamic knowledge is the key role to uplift our Eruvadi. Apart from this co-operation plays a major role. In spite of political parties, or any other associations, they should get united for a social cause. Recently we had election in our native. Our people also elected the members for individual wards, and for chairman post. So it’s our duty to co-operate and support those elected people in successfully running our town panchayat without any chaos. People having queries and problems should inform the president or ward members at the earliest. I would really like to thank the EMAN Association Members to arrange for this essay writing competition and really appreciate for their efforts. Let Allah (SWT) pour his blessings towards all of us. Assalamu Alaikum |
