Dubai, Aug 17 (PTI) Eid ul-Fitr, the festival marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan, will be celebrated across the Gulf region on Sunday, religious authorities announced today. The UAE's moon sighting committee today announced that Saturday will be the last day of fasting in the country followed by Eid on Sunday. News reaching here from Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Kuwait also said Eid will be celebrated on Sunday. The festival of Eid is the culmination of the month-long period of fasting during which practicing Muslims around the world abstain from food and water from dawn to dusk.
