Milad Al Nabi holiday for government and private sectors Public sector to have January 12 as holiday; private sector to have holiday either on January 11 or 12 Private and public sector workers will receive a day off next week, to celebrate the Milad Al Nabi, birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Minister of Labour Saqr Ghobash Saeed Ghobash has issued a circular notifying workers in the private sector that those who work a six-day week will have a paid holiday on Saturday, January 11, while workers with a two-day weekend will have the holiday on Sunday, January 12. January 12 corresponds to the 11th of Rabi Al Awwal, 1435 Hijri. Ministries and Federal Departments will also close on Sunday. The holiday for the public sector was announced in a circular issued on Sunday by Minister of Education and Chairman of the Board of the Federal Authority for Human Resources Humaid Mohammed Obaid Al Qattami. The decision has been made based on Clause 5 of Article 100 of Cabinet Resolution No. 13/2012. Both Al Qattami and Ghobash extended their greetings to the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan; His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and Their Highnesses the Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates, people of the UAE and Muslim countries all over the world on the auspicious occasion. news@khaleejtimes.com
